How do pricing and fees work at Group 1 Toyota?
A Toyota has no single price. It has a starting MSRP, a Georgia tax, a few state fees, and a dealer documentation fee, but what matters is the out-the-door number you sign.
We sell Toyotas on the Stone Mountain Highway corridor, and our rule is straight answers on price, trade value, and financing. Every piece of that total gets named before you sign.
Keep reading below, then schedule a test drive in Lilburn. Bringing your own numbers to the lot settles this faster than any spec sheet.
What a Toyota starting MSRP includes and leaves out
Starting MSRP is Toyota’s national price for one trim before anything is added. Toyota lists the 2026 Corolla LE starting at $23,325 and the Camry LE starting at $29,600, and each figure excludes destination freight, tax, title, license, and dealer fees.
That makes it a shopping number. It belongs to a trim and a configuration, so a Camry XSE or a Camry Nightshade starts higher than the LE. It is also national, which means it is never a local price or an offer.
A starting number turns into a real one when we show price and terms on a specific vehicle. That is the first number worth writing down.
How Georgia’s 7.0% Title Ad Valorem Tax works
Georgia charges no sales tax on a titled vehicle. It charges a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax of 7.0% of the vehicle’s fair market value, or 3% for new residents (Georgia Department of Revenue, 2026).
On a RAV4 LE starting at $31,900, that tax alone is $2,233. Here is the same arithmetic on five starting prices.
| Toyota trim | Starting MSRP | 7.0% TAVT on that price |
|---|---|---|
| Toyota Corolla LE | $23,325 | $1,632.75 |
| Toyota Camry LE | $29,600 | $2,072.00 |
| Toyota RAV4 LE | $31,900 | $2,233.00 |
| Toyota Tacoma SR | $32,545 | $2,278.15 |
| Toyota 4Runner SR5 | $42,270 | $2,958.90 |
Freight and the doc fee go into the taxable base too, so ask for the tax line on your own quote.
Which flat fees Georgia adds for title, tag, and Lemon Law
Georgia’s title fee is $18, and the plate fee is $20 for a regular passenger car or lightweight pickup, with other vehicles set by the state’s schedule (Georgia Department of Revenue, 2026). Those two are government charges, and they do not change with the price of the car.
Georgia law also has dealers collect a $3 Lemon Law fee from each consumer on the sale or lease of a new vehicle (Georgia Attorney General, 2026). Of that, $2 goes to the Georgia Department of Law.
All three are small next to the tax. They still belong on the quote as their own lines, because a line you can see is a line you can check.
Georgia does not cap the dealer documentation fee
Georgia sets no cap on dealer documentary fees. The Attorney General’s office says only government fees such as tax, title, tag, and Lemon Law fees may be left out of an advertised price, and every other amount a dealer collects must be included (Georgia Attorney General, 2019).
The fee is also taxed. The Department of Revenue says a new vehicle’s retail selling price includes delivery, freight, and doc fees, and that price is the base for the 7.0% (Georgia Department of Revenue, 2026).
So the doc fee costs you twice, once as a fee and once inside the tax. Ask for it as a dollar figure, in writing. In an April 2026 Google review, Jonte M. wrote: “Pricing was upfront and clearly communicated, the out-the-door number was exactly what was paid.” That is what we mean by a straight answer.
How a trade-in valuation changes your numbers
A trade value you already know is a number you can check against the quote. We let you value your trade online, and that value applies toward the purchase.
The risk sits on the other side of the trade. 28.2% of trade-ins in July 2025 involved negative equity, with buyers owing an average of $6,902 above the vehicle’s value (Edmunds, 2025). If that is you, the gap has to be paid somewhere, and the quote should show where.
Ask that the trade appear as its own line. Ask, too, whether it reduces the amount subject to the 7.0% tax on your deal.
What an online pre-approval settles before you sit down
Financing is part of most new-vehicle deals. Lenders were used in 80.5% of new vehicle purchases in Q1 2025 (Experian, 2025).
That is why we put pre-approval online, ahead of the visit. You see your terms before you choose a vehicle, and then price and terms get shown on the exact unit.
We do not publish a rate in an article. We price at market, and the rate and payment belong to a specific vehicle and a specific buyer. What you can do is bring your pre-approval and compare it to the terms on the unit line by line.
Six questions that make the quoted number the signed number
Six questions cover every piece of the total. Ask them in this order.
- What is the out-the-door total? One figure, with price, doc fee, tax, title, tag, and Lemon Law fee each on its own line.
- Which vehicle is this for? Price and terms belong on one exact unit, so ask for the stock or vehicle identification number.
- What is the doc fee in dollars? Georgia has no cap, so the number is the answer.
- How is my trade applied? Look for the trade value as its own line, and for how it touches the tax.
- What are the loan terms? Rate, term, and monthly payment, set against your pre-approval.
- Is anything in the number that I did not ask for? Every non-government amount belongs in the price you were shown.
In a March 2026 Google review, Erick V. wrote: “Shawn answered all the questions we had.” A buyer should get that every time.
Four price numbers and what each one covers
Only the out-the-door total covers everything you pay on the day.
| Price number | What the number is | What it covers | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group 1 Toyota Stone Mountain unit price | Market price and terms shown on one specific vehicle | That exact vehicle’s price and terms, with trade and pre-approval done online | Checking line by line against your own math |
| Toyota starting MSRP | National starting price for one trim and configuration | The vehicle only; excludes destination freight, tax, title, license, dealer fees | Comparing trims before you pick a unit |
| Georgia advertised price | Price a dealer advertises; Georgia’s Attorney General says non-government amounts belong in it | Everything except tax, title, tag, and Lemon Law fees | Comparing stores before a visit |
| Out-the-door total | Everything owed on the day you sign | Price, doc fee, 7.0% TAVT, title fee, tag fee, $3 Lemon Law fee | The only number to sign |
Frequently asked questions
What does out-the-door mean on a car in Georgia?
It means the full amount you owe at signing: the vehicle price, the doc fee, the 7.0% Title Ad Valorem Tax, and the title, tag, and Lemon Law fees. It replaces the sales tax line you would see in most other states.
Do I pay Georgia tax on a used Toyota too?
Yes. Georgia charges the same one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax of 7.0% of fair market value on a titled vehicle, with a 3% rate for new residents (Georgia Department of Revenue, 2026). Most vehicles bought before March 1, 2013 owe an annual ad valorem tax instead.
Is the price on the website the price I pay?
The price on a specific vehicle shows that unit’s price and terms. Tax, title, and tag are added on top, so ask for the out-the-door total in writing before you commit.
Is a “starting at” price the price of the trim I want?
No. Starting MSRP belongs to one trim and configuration. Toyota lists the RAV4 LE starting at $31,900 and the RAV4 Limited starting at $43,300.
Does a Georgia emissions test add to the cost?
It can. Georgia’s Clean Air Force requires an annual test costing up to $25 on 2002 to 2023 model year gasoline cars in 13 metro counties, DeKalb and Gwinnett among them, and the three newest model years are exempt (Georgia’s Clean Air Force, 2026).
Will you promise a rate or a discount?
No. We price at market and show terms on the exact unit, so any rate or payment is tied to a specific vehicle and buyer.
The out-the-door total is the price to sign
Read a Toyota price in the order you meet it: starting MSRP, the 7.0% tax, three small state fees, then the doc fee. Add them up yourself, and sign only when the total on paper matches the total you added.
That works best when the store shows price and terms on the exact vehicle, with your trade value and pre-approval already in hand.
How Group 1 Toyota Stone Mountain puts Price and terms on the exact unit
Reading a price piece by piece only works when the pieces sit on one vehicle, and that is how we sell. We show pricing and terms on a specific unit, you value your trade and get pre-approved online, and you finish in store with those steps done.
Our customers rate us 4.3 across 11,892 Google reviews, and 8,817 of those are five-star. In a February 2026 Google review, T A. thanked a salesman for “him patiently working with us in our limited budget.”
We price at market, and we answer questions about price, trade value, and financing straight.
Group 1 Toyota Stone Mountain puts price and terms on the exact vehicle, so the number you read is the number you sign. Value your trade and get pre-approved online, then finish in store.
Group 1 Toyota Stone Mountain answers this question against the specific vehicle in front of you rather than the model in general. Value your trade and get pre-approved online, then see us at our Lilburn showroom, or call (770) 782-7100.
